    Let there be structures

Welcome to the Micro & Nano Mechanics Lab at UBC (Mechanical Engineering), led by Professor Mattia Bacca in Vancouver.

We combine theory, simulation, and custom experiments to uncover microscale mechanics in soft and biological matter and structural systems—advancing dry adhesives, cell scaffolds, antiviral strategies, and the mechanics behind surgical robotics, puncture/cutting, and brain-computer interfaces.

    Students (jobs/training/visits):
Please attach (i) CV, (ii) transcripts, and (iii) a targeted statement explaining why you want to work with us. Your statement must discuss one or more of our papers and propose one or more follow-on project ideas. Note: Generic emails will not be considered. Due to volume, we reply only if interested.
